Why Our Homes Are Built for the Climate, Not Against It

A lot of tropical accommodation is really just an air-conditioned box dropped into a hot climate, sealed up against the very place you travelled to see. We built Luna Rosa Homes to do the opposite.

Both our homes are open-air by design — rooms that breathe rather than rooms that fight the heat with a closed door and a compressor running all night. Every space has full insect screening, which is what actually makes open-air living workable here; without it, “open-air” quickly becomes “full of mosquitoes.” With it, you get a cross breeze, the sound of the garden, and none of the downsides.

Ceiling and floor fans do the cooling work in every room, which is quieter and gentler than AC and, frankly, more pleasant to sleep under once you’re used to it. Combined with the garden shade and the pool right outside, the homes stay comfortable through the heat of the day without ever feeling sealed off.

The outdoor kitchens follow the same logic. Cooking under a covered, open-air structure looking onto the garden is a genuinely different experience to cooking in an enclosed kitchen with the windows shut against the heat — you’re not fighting your surroundings to make dinner.

This approach isn’t about roughing it. Cotton linens, hot water, a proper desk and Starlink wifi, a private pool — all of that is still here. It’s simply built around the place it’s in, rather than imported from somewhere colder and dropped on top of it.

Guests who’ve stayed in a lot of tropical destinations tend to notice this fastest — the quiet of fans instead of AC hum, the actual breeze instead of recycled cold air, a garden you can hear instead of walls that shut it out.

If that sounds like the kind of stay you’re after, come feel the difference for yourself. Browse our properties and check availability for your dates.
